Things to know about the Awards
- Allocation of Awards
One award per year to: each Group with a Scout Troop; each Explorer
Unit. This is amended according to the Census returns each year.
The County Scout Network is allocated four awards per year. It is
possible for an individual to be nominated once in the Troop, once
in an Explorer Unit and once in the Scout Network.
- Reports We are
required to submit a report to JPF twice a year at the end of June
and end of December. This details the name of the winner, their
achievement and how the money was/intended to be spent. This report
then releases the money for the next six-month period. Late submission
of the reports can result in the County being terminated from the
scheme.
- Once a name has been sent in to the County Co-ordinator on Form RF1, a framed Achievement Award Certificate and a Dummy Cheque must be presented without delay to the winner. The back of the Dummy Cheque gives the winner the opportunity to set out their ideas on how the money should be spent.
- The County Co-ordinator will then send a real cheque to the GSL along with Form RF2 which should detail how the money has been/intended to be spent, and returned within one month. (this information is required for the JPF Report).
- Cheques It should
be noted that cheques go out of date after six months. Uncashed
cheques are NOT re-issued and the money is forfeited.
- District organisation
Should a Group be too slow, or not want
to nominate a winner, it may be passed on to another Group, and it should be treated in exactly the same manner as their normal allocation.
